Mike & Nancy Lee

“Our community wouldn’t be as rich without the relationships we’ve built in these classes.”

After getting married in October of 2018, Mike and Nancy Lee found a local church and started attending regularly. Although, they never quite felt “at home.” After visiting Bethel, they said “we connected with more people on that 1st Sunday than we did in the entire last year at our previous church.” Nancy says that she was drawn towards Dr. Prince’s teaching style and his focus on discipleship and the Bible, as well as the welcoming atmosphere and friendliness of those around the building.

Fast forward, Mike and Nancy have now been attending Bethel for about 4 years. Over those years they’ve attended many different blocks classes, and in all those classes, Mike and Nancy always seem to leave with at least 1 thing – a new friend. No matter the subject of the class, marriage, finance, exegetical, they always manage to build community in these classes. Mike says “Our community wouldn’t be as rich without the relationships we’ve built in these classes.” After moving from Chicago to Evansville to marry Mike, Nancy knew what it was like to rebuild community from the ground up. “I experienced that – not knowing many people, and it can get lonely.” Nancy says that’s why she places a high value on community. “Having that community around you that prays with you and prays for you is invaluable.” And one of the best ways to build that community is through Blocks classes.

One of the Blocks classes Mike and Nancy recently went through was The Marriage Knot. They say this 6-week class was jam packed full of great tips and real-world examples of loving your spouse well, even when you don’t necessarily feel like it. Mike also credits this class with spurring him into spending more time reading his Bible. “It helped me get more disciplined in reading or listening my Bible on a daily basis.” Nancy recalls hearing things in this class that, even though she may have heard them many times before, she was able to receive them a new light and gain new meaning from. “It’s amazing to me that God can often reveal new things to us, even after hearing something 5, 6, 7 times even, God can still show us something new.”

Mike would encourage you, no matter where you are in your faith journey, to engage in a Blocks class. “There are classes for every walk of life. If you are a new believer, or a seasoned veteran who has lived a long life for the Lord, there are classes that will help you learn and dive deeper into your walk with God.” Nancy encourages you to get engaged and find community. “Jump in. Find your people. The community you build is unlike any other. The Blocks classes not only take you deeper into the Word, but they take you deeper into community.” Mike and Nancy have met some of their closest friends through Blocks classes. They enjoy engaging in Biblical community by having others in their home for shared meals, prayer, and fellowship.

Reading the story about Mike and Nancy Lee was heartwarming because it showed how meaningful relationships and shared experiences can enrich a community. I remember joining a school club and making friends through activities we enjoyed together, which made me appreciate the value of connection. During that time, I used Do My Geometry Assignment while managing several classes at once. It reminded me that strong relationships and simple moments often leave the biggest impact on our lives.
